Leaving Kaikoura, we took a bus to Picton to catch the ferry to the North Island.  The entire country seems to be GREEN.  Everywhere you look it’s luscious and covered in some sort of plant.  Even the desert areas have tremendous amounts of plant life.

We pass by vineyard after vineyard.  I can’t wait to sample what they’ve got to offer!

Vineyard after vineyard

Crossing through the Cook Strait, which I’m told is one of the roughest bits of water anywhere.  We had about 3 to 4 meter waves.  Friends of mine told me of crossings in 10 meters swells.  That can’t be fun!!

I can’t wait to get to Wellington!  A good friend of mine I haven’t seen in a few years lives there.  I’m promised a bottle of Pinot Noir and I intend to collect.  🙂
